Classic American Bullwhip Construction

These start out with the *Essentia core attached to either an 8 or 10 inch steel spike, a 4 plait roo hide belly encased in a kip bolster is followed by a 6 plait roo hide belly, then a further kip hide bolster is added on top, the final overlay is a 12 plait, beneath the heel knot lead is attached to make the balance of the whip on or pretty near the transition knot, a 6 plait wrist strap is then fixed before the two knots are tied on to complete the whip.

The American style is thicker in girth than the Australian style, heavier and weighted into the handle rather than out into the thong, these whips also feature a wrist strap. The original use for this style of bullwhip was single crack cattle hurding so with that in mind these start at 6 foot and go up to 12 foot, this is the American copy of the Australian whip within a whip construction and to be brutaly honest it's a poor copy that due to the shorter handle and thicker girth, aswell as the weight distribution doesn't really work anywhere near aswell as the original, I'm probably doing myself out of business writing that but I like to be honest, and even though they are not a whip thats to my taste some people love them and I often get requests for them, hence this page.
