About The Mixer The Mixer whip is an idea that was born a long time ago around the same time as I perfected and constructed the first Essentia Whips Stock Whip, much as I'd like to take credit for it I can't, well not totally anyway! There are three other folks involved in it, Robby Amper of Whip Basics fame, the idea stemmed from him because of the way I constructed his Stock Whip, the talented whip maker from the USA Skip of Hand Made Whips, he turned the handle section for me, and my beautiful wife Mel who has been bugging me a couple of years now for a matched pair and who, just to be awkward, loves the attributes of nylon but doesn't like the feel in her hand, loves the beauty of wood but again not the feel, and so you can see how the mixture of materials came about and the name The Mixer was born. With regards construction The whip starts out as a beautifully turned English Oak Dowel, using a stagger system the nylon thong is attached with the unique to Essentia Stratem Foundationing applied between bellies, an 8 bite TH with pineapple interweave covers the transition, The handle section is overlayed in 1st grade Kangaroo hide and finished with 2 decorative TH knots both with interweave, the beautiful English Oak is left exposed between the leather and nylon and glistens wonderously beneath several coats of bleached shallac!
