SnakeWhips Handcrafted Snake whips using selected Veg taned kangaroo leather...
Snakewhip Construction I recently had a conversation with an another whip maker, which was interesting to say the least. The snake whips on this page are constructed starting with a shot bag, which is then bolstered, plaited, a second bolster, then finished with an overlay plait in your choice. This is what I had always considered to be a pocket snake. The other whip maker enlightened me that his idea of a pocket snake was a shot bag, a bolster, then the overlay plait. There are no right or wrong answers in the whip making game, just a half dozen or so basic methods of whip construction and most whip makers, myself included, use little bits of each method to come up with what they as an individual think is best. I can't see any good reason to change the method I use and I guess the advantage to you as a customer is that a pocket snake off me has two more layers of leather in its guts. It will take a little longer to break in but its life will be a lot longer. There is a saying in the whip making world, "a whip is like a man, no guts no good!" I believe that! Snake Whip Prices
